Reinvestment in existing public housing stock to improve standards to modern requirements and the development of additional affordable housing for rent and owner occupation are the subject of a major Government investment programme. PUK has been working with public sector bodies (for example, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Local Authorities and other housing bodies) to improve the flow of PFI and PPP projects to deliver the investment required.
Examples of recent and ongoing work undertaken by PUK include:
- Co-sponsorship through a development partnership agreement with Ashford Borough Council of a housing PFI project for the regeneration of the Stanhope Estate
- Development of new template financial models for ODPM for use by Local Authorities to assess the affordability and value for money of bids for PFI grant support
- Working with ODPM and HMT to finalise the drafting of a sector specific contract for housing PFI projects and working with a building maintenance company in London with projects.
